So much is happening...

Wow, what a crazy month it has been.  Between Turkey day with family, preparing for Ryan to graduate, things have been busy.

Thanksgiving was great with the boys.  It was their first one, but of course no turkey was on their plates, just a little formula in their bottles.  Ryan and I however ate a lot! You name it, we ate it.  Turkey, meat stuffing, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, bread, cranberry sauces, and the gravy over the top.  YUM!  Of course we had to top it off with some chocolate and apple pie.  Ryan also had a 3rd piece of pie.

It is crazy to think that last year at Thanksgiving I got up that morning and had a BFN on my pregnancy test, little did I know that 2 days later, there would be the faintest of lines.  At the time, I still didn't know that there were two babies.  I was anticipating only one, but I was truly blessed with two.  I am excited for Christmas to get here, even though I am sure by the end of it all the boys will be super fussy.

Ryan graduates this Friday. I can't believe it is finally coming to an end for him.  He is so excited.  He even made Cum Ladde. I can not be more proud of him.  He worked hard, and I know that this last semester was rough considering that he was at times, trying to take care of the boys, or hearing them talk, while trying to study.  Honestly I can not even imagine. He amazes me.  Once graduation is done, he hopefully will have a date to take is boards, then it will be job searching time.  Wow the thought of two incomes in our house scares, but excites me all at the same time.

Updates on the boys, things they can do:
  • Both can roll from front to back & back to front
  • Both are trying to sit...Zach can do a tripod sit for about 5-7 seconds, and Christian can do it for about 3 seconds.
  • Both are talking (well cooing) up a storm.  They love to hear themselves talk.
  • They both enjoy the jumparoo and exersaucer
  • Drool -- they are both very good at that. I end up having to change them at least 2 times a day as they have soaked through their clothes.
  • Chewing on their hands like crazy.  I swear every time I turn around at least one of them has a fist in their mouth. It is quite amusing.
They have discovered each other, it is so fun to watch....
  • They love to talk to each other
  • They like to laugh at each other
  • They love to chew on each other. Yes, chew.  For example if Zach's elbow is close enough, watch out it will end up in Christian's mouth.
  • They love to look at each other
  • Pull each other's ears
That is what has been going on, next time I will have updated pictures. Can't believe my babies will be 5 months old on Friday. Scary!

Wow time goes by so quickly

Ok, I know I haven't kept up, but seriously things have been busy.   So much has happened over the past few weeks.  I have had tears, smiles, frustration, you name it I have had it.

Well the boys were baptised.  Their gowns came out great.  When I got them I couldn't stop looking at them. The detail is amazing.  I am thankful that my boys got to wear a piece of my wedding dress on their special day.

It's funny right after I got the dresses, I opened up the box to see what was left of my wedding dress.  Basically the overlay and the bodice is all that is left.  Of course I still have my veil too.  It was bitter sweet to see my dress like that, but I reminded myself that it would have just sat in the box and collected dust.  I am really glad I did it. I will be able to to give the boys their gowns when they are older, and hopefully when they have children they can use them for their baptisms.

Here are a few pics from the day.

Their cake.  Yes they spelled Christians name wrong.

Now that the baptism was done, it was time to start focusing on me.  It's time for me to get my butt in gear and get down, to what I like to call, my Vegas body.  Now don't get me wrong it is not what you think.  In 2006/2007 I lost 50 lbs and was the same size I was in High School.  I am determined to get back there.

What am I doing?  Yes, I am back on the Weight Watchers (WW) wagon, and now going to some hardcore Zumba 2-3 times a week.  Now this isn't your typical dancy dancy Zumba.  This class focus on giving you a workout.  There are LOTS of squats, which I grunt every time I do them, but it is paying off.  I am starting to slowly shed some weight.

So now enough about me. The boys have been sick.  Zach got the croup about 2 weeks ago.  If you don't know what it is, imagine what it sounds like when you hear a seal.  Yes thats right a seal, that is how he sounded.  The only way (besides steroids) to get rid of it is to have them breath moisturized air.  So we would sit in the bathroom with the door closed, shower running and no fan on.  We would sometimes get up in the middle of the night, stand in front of the freezer bundled in a blanket.  Well he got over it, but unfortunately it is back, and we are working it out again.

Christian on the other hand, has a good cold and is miserable.  I took him to the doctors because he had been tugging at his ears, and I was nervous he had an ear infection.  Thank god he doesn't.  He just has either discovered his ears or it could be part of the teething process.

Teething?  Yes, I truly believe my boys are starting to teeth.  They are both drooling like crazy.  (changing outfits often) They are chewing on their hands, and they are getting spots (calcium deposits) on their gums.  Zach is loving a cool teething ring.  You can also feel bumps on both of their bottom gums.

My babies are growing up quick.  The boys will be 4 months old next week. I can't believe it.  Time is going by so quickly.  Here are some things they can do now.
  • Christian can roll from tummy to back.
  • Zach has rolled from back to tummy twice.
  • They both can hold their heads up, and push themselves up with their arms while laying on their tummies.
  • They are starting to grab for things and play with a few toys.
  • Both are doing belly laughs with big smiles
Even though it is all exciting, sometimes it makes me sad since they are getting so big.

Here is a 3 month picture of the boys.....

I have to write about some of the sadness that has come across my path over the past couple of weeks.

Ryan and I met a wonderful couple in person on our honeymoon, Emily and Sean.  Well they found out they were pregnant with triplets.  It was a great journey for her. We would text often about her progress and since I had some what of an idea what she was going through, I could give her advice.   Well sadly she delivered her babies at 20 weeks, her cervix just couldn't hold up.  When I got the text, I remember my mouth dropping, and I immediately began to cry.  I felt somewhat guilty because I was able to carry my multiple pregnancy.

I am so thankful to read her blog, and how strong of a woman she is.  I do not know if I could be as strong as she is.  Every time she updates her blog she amazes me.  She has her bad days, but that is expected.  For all of you that read this, I ask that you say a prayer for her, Sean, and the baby angels before you go to bed.

With that said, I am going to go.  I am hoping that the boys actually sleep longer tonight, but only time will tell.  Mama needs some sleep.  I will update after their 4 month appointment next week.  I wonder how much they will weigh?

It's been a while...

What a bad blogger I am. Sorry, as you can imagine things have been crazy between working full time, taking care of babies, and trying to keep up with working out. I am here now and ready to update.

First me, I am joining weight watchers at work tomorrow, and I can't wait.  I am so done looking at myself the way that I am.  Seeing the pictures from the Halloween party/Wedding reception was an even bigger eye opener on my weight.  I am just not happy with it, and the only way it will change is if I change.  I have already started working out.  I am doing Zumba twice a week (I began last week) and trying to walk when I have the time.  Personally, I don't think that is to bad of a start.

Ryan and I went to a Halloween Party/Wedding reception for Nik and Bill over the weekend.  It was a blast.  It was great to have everyone together in one place.  Lets just say I had my first alcoholic beverage, ok maybe 4 or 5, since being pregnant.  Wow, thank goodness I danced it off.  Ryan and I went as a caveman and cave woman.  Here is a picture of us, and please excuse the I have had a few drinks look on my face.
Now onto the other loves of my life, the boys. They are getting so big already.  I am still waiting for them to consistently sleep through the night, but I think it is coming.  Lastnight Zach slept from 9:30 - 5:00, and Christian slept from 8:00 - 3:00.  Anyhow, here a few updated picture of them.  I can't believe they will be 3 months old on Sunday.

Not the clearest picture but they enjoyed their seats.

I am anxious for Sunday as they will be getting baptized at our church.  There baptismal gowns were made from my wedding dress and they came out absolutely perfect.  I will post more pictures then, however I have to run, time for baths.

Seriously a cold?

Ok, so I have been back to work for almost a month now, and of course, I get sick. I guess this was expected since I do work in the corporate world, or what I like to refer to as "germ fest."  I was continuously washing my hands and what not, but it wasn't enough. I am stuck with this stupid cold.  The good thing is that I am no longer pregnant so I can finally take medicine!  The 2 colds I had during pregnancy were awful.

I actually called out sick to work on Monday.  I just couldn't do it.  Between semi sleepless nights, and this head cold it wasn't happening.  Besides, Zachary caught my cold too.  My poor baby was coughing, sneezing, and dealing with a runny nose just like his mommy.  All he wanted yesterday was to be held by his mama.  I even ended up bringing him into bed with Ryan and I halfway through the night.  Hey, it worked, he slept from 2:30 until I got out of bed at 6:15 a.m.  Honestly, he probably would have slept longer, but Ryan needed some sleep so I had to bring him down to my mom.  My mother thinks it is his tummy, but I honestly think otherwise.  Mommies do know best, right?

So now I am anxious to get home and see my little guy to see how he is feeling, and have him snuggle up with his mama.  Christian will get minimal snuggling from me though because he really doesn't have a cold, and I don't want him to get it too.  Well I will update later, but I should get back to work.  Is it 3:30 yet?

Crazy Busy Weekend

Wow, what a weekend. I am beyond exhausted, and I don't know if it is from lack of sleep, or the damn head cold that has decided to take residency in my head.  I hate being sick.

Saturday we pack the boys up, and headed down to Rochester, NH for the annual Norris Field Day.  This year I didn't get to play, but you can bet next year it will be game on for this mama.

It was great to see some friends that I hadn't seen in a while. They finally got to meet the boys.  Mike and Court got their practice on feeding babies with the boys. I can't wait for them to be parents someday!

So then of course it was time for the games to begin.  Unfortunately, I missed a lot of it because the boys were napping and I didn't want to be to far away.  I did however get to see the toilet paper and plunger race.  Here are a couple of pictures from the excitement.  When you have had a few drinks, I guess you are game for anything.......

Ryan and Steve

After the long day of fun and games the hubby and his partner, Aaron (AKA team Hot Nerds) won the events.  They will be back next year to defend the title, but they better watch out because their wives are playing and they are ready to kick some butt!  Overall, it was a fun day, but long for the boys. They slept the whole drive home.

Sunday was another busy day, my cousin Scott's wedding.  This was going to be the first time the boys met some of the family.  I was excited to get there and see everyone.

Here a few pictures from the day.......

A little blurry, but the bride and groom.
My wonderful mom (Meme) loving on Christian
The hubby getting Zach to smile! (He truly is an amazing dad)
My cousin Shelly holding the boys.  She was so in love the minute she met them!

I really don't get to see my family enough.  I must admit though family functions are hard since my Uncle Ray isn't there.  I know he was there in spirit, but he truly would have been the life of the party.  I can't wait for the next family function.  I truly need to make more effort to see them more.  Functions like this make me realize that my mothers side of the family is so important to me.  We all get busy in our lives, but we do need to make time to see them.  You never know when they might be taken away from you.

Sorry didn't mean to get a little sappy.  I did have a great ending to the weekend, after a long 5 months, my wedding ring fits!!  I have been trying to get it on every day for the past 2 months with no success, and tonight it fits, I am wearing it, and I am in heaven.  As long as we don't get anymore humidity I think I will be able to wear it everyday!

Well this is all I have for today.  Time for me to go tend to this cold, change over laundry, and give some more loving to my boys, even Ryan too, before my work week begins again.

The beginning...

Well here I am writing a blog. What am I thinking?  How am I going to have time to keep up with blogging while trying to keep up with 2 month old babies.  Yes that is right, babies!  Ryan and I are proud first time parents of twin boys, Zachary and Christian.

So, where did it all begin?  Ryan and I met about 16 years ago working at a local department store.  We dated for about 2 years and broke it off.  We were just to young, and didn't know what life was truly all about.  Fast forward to about 3 years ago. We reunite and realize that we truly were the...."if it's meant to be, it will be!"  So, on August 1st, 2009 we tied the knot with about 150 of our closest friends and family!

I work full time at a local Disability Insurance Co., and Ryan is currently a full-time nursing student.  Thankfully Ryan will be graduating in December of 2010.  Honestly, it can't get here soon enough.  He is ready to be done with school, and I am ready for him to be done as well

You know how the song goes....first comes love, second comes marriage, then comes "so and so" in a baby carriage.  Well in our case, we got 2 for the price of one.  Yes, that is right we were shocked in mid January 2010 to find out that there was not one baby, but 2!  I think I about passed out on the ultrasound table when the tech said, "Nothings wrong, but you are having twins!"  For the most part the pregnancy was smooth sailing.  I did get taken out of work at about 30 weeks for modified bed rest, but that is expected for twins.

Here is a picture of me carrying the boys at about 34 weeks pregnant.  My belly was HUGE!

Little did I know 2 1/2 weeks later the boys would be making their appearance.  On July 17, 2010 I delivered 2 healthy baby boys.  Thankfully, my labor was quick.  Short story, water broke at 3:00 a.m., at the hospital at 4:00 a.m., I was 10 cm by 9:00 a.m., and the next thing I know, they were pushing me to the Operating Room for my delivery.  (Yes, that is right folks, with a twin pregnancy, you have to deliver in an O.R. in case you need a c-section for the second baby)  Christian was born at 10:15 a.m. weighing 4 lbs. 15 oz., and Zach was born at 10:52 a.m. and weighed 6 lbs 2 oz.  Here they are right after birth.

Mama holding the boys right after delivery
Ryan being one proud daddy
Here they are...Zach is on the left and Christian is on the right.

Now I will answer the questions that EVERYONE always asks....(seriously if I could make a t-shirt that just had all the questions and answers....I would be rich!)

  1. Are they twins? Yes (No, I just like the challenge of walking around with 2 screaming babies)

  2. Are they identical?  No (if you really look at them you can tell them apart) they're fraternal. (so yes ladies and gentlemen, I popped two eggs!)

  3. Do twins run in your family?  No, neither my husband or I have twins in our families. (Well, I do have distant cousins who have twins....so who knows if that had anything to do with it).

  4. Did you have to have a c-section? No, I pushed them out. (Just because you are having twins, does NOT mean you automatically get a c-section)

So here I am today writing about life with my family.  I will try to keep up as best as I can, but I am sure you will all understand if I miss a few here in there.  I do have 2 babies after all.  Anyway, I am off to get a little shut eye before the next feeding. We have a big day tomorrow......we are off to NH for Norris Field Day.  Our first big road trip!
